Both Tobey Maguire and Tom Holland’s Spider-Man crushes jump straight to Mary Jane – but Tom Holland’s films skip the origin story of spider-bite and uncle death, so Tobey Maguire’s films would come before them. Different films take different elements of these early stories, tweaking them as they go along, but you can… roughly… chart a course through each variation of Spider-Man that more or less walks the steps laid out by this original comic incarnation.įor instance, Peter Parker was in love with Gwen Stacey before he fell for MJ, and so Andrew Garfield’s films, by that metric, come first. It’s here where the classic arc was born – bitten by the radioactive spider, sees his beloved uncle Ben die, falls for Mary Jane, and so on. There’s the ‘Ultimate’ universe Spider-Man, multiple different Earth versions (Earth-9500, Earth-982, etc etc), and the Earth-616 universe where he first appeared from the minds of creators Stan Lee and Steve Ditko.Įarth-616 then is kind of seen as the ‘core’ Spider-Man experience that many of the films ultimately draw their inspiration from. Just as Spider-Man has existed in multiple forms on screen, so too has he in the Marvel comics he came from. Other titles rumored to appear include Konami’s apparent remake of Metal Gear Solid 3, so that should be fun. It’s reportedly coming in the week of May 25th and could feature the sequel. And while it’s still unknown exactly when Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is being showcased, rumors abound about an upcoming PlayStation Showcase. Insomniac working hard seems a given – game development is anything but easy. There’s obviously not much I can say, but boy, are we really workin’ hard to try and make sure that this is the best game we’ve ever made, and we can’t wait to share it with y’all.” While he didn’t offer much new details, he did say the team is working to ensure “this is the best game we’ve ever made.” In the developer’s last Twitch stream, narrative director Jon Paquette spoke about his excitement for the sequel. Insomniac Games recently asked fans for a “little bit more patience,” while Sony assured that the sequel would launch this fiscal year. There was a lot of hype for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 after its announcement in September 2021, but there hasn’t been any gameplay footage or details revealed.
